The television, in your browser

This is the real TV app

The same program that runs on a Samsung TV, set to your city from your browser's time zone. Arrow keys move, Enter selects, Esc goes back, exactly like the remote.

Starting the TV app…

Show me

Each button moves the app's clock to a moment worth seeing. “Now” brings it back.

Remote

For a touch screen. On a keyboard, the arrow keys do this.

Good to know

What the browser can and cannot show

It is the shipped program

Every screen, the prayer engine, the city list, the verses, the art and the two Makkah adhan recordings are the TV app's own files. Nothing was rebuilt for the web.

Sound needs a tap

Browsers play no sound until you have clicked or tapped the page. Press a button first, then “The adhan”. On a TV the adhan plays on its own, and pauses whatever is playing.

What stays on the TV

Pausing Netflix for the adhan, the TV's volume, waking from standby and the burn-in protection depend on the television itself. The browser shows the rest.

Your city, your browser

The city comes from your browser's time zone and is kept in this browser only, as a TV keeps it. Change it in Settings; “Start over” forgets it. Nothing is sent to us.

Best on a large screen

The app lays itself out for 1080p. On a phone, turn it sideways and use Fullscreen; on a laptop or a desktop it looks as it does on the wall.

Aqeem is in testing on Samsung TVs and comes to the Samsung app store first. Write to us to hear when it is out.
