Privacy Policy

In short: Aqeem has no account, no ads and no analytics. It doesn't collect, sell or share personal data. Your settings stay on your device.

This policy covers the Aqeem apps and this website, aqeem.app. “Aqeem”, “we” and “us” mean the makers of Aqeem.

The TV apps

This covers Aqeem for Samsung Smart TVs and for Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV.

What stays on your TV

  • Your settings: your city and its coordinates, calculation method, Asr school, adhan and display preferences.
  • A short record of recent adhans: which adhan played, when and whether it worked, so Aqeem doesn't play the same adhan twice and so problems can be diagnosed on the TV.

This information is stored only in the app's storage on your TV. It isn't sent to us or to anyone else. Uninstalling Aqeem deletes all of it; Settings → System → Reset settings clears your settings.

No network use

The TV apps make no network requests. Prayer times are calculated on the TV, and the city list, Qur'an verses, artwork and adhan recordings are all included in the app.

Device permissions and why

  • Alarms (Samsung, Android TV): to open Aqeem and play the adhan at prayer time.
  • Media control (Samsung): to pause what's playing in another app during the adhan and resume it afterwards.
  • TV audio state (Samsung): to read the volume and audio output, so the adhan plays at the share of the volume you chose. Aqeem never changes the TV volume.
  • App launch (Samsung), start at boot and display over other apps (Android TV): to bring Aqeem to the front at prayer time and after a restart.

The phone and tablet app

The iPhone, Android phone and tablet app is in development. It will use your device's location, only with your permission, to find your city, calculate prayer times and show the Qibla direction on your device. We'll update this policy to describe it exactly before it's released.

This website

aqeem.app sets no cookies, runs no analytics or tracking scripts, and loads nothing from other websites. Like any website, it's delivered by a hosting provider, which processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the pages and protect against abuse. We don't use that data to identify you.

When you email us

If you write to support@aqeem.app, we use your email address and message only to reply and to improve Aqeem. We don't add you to a mailing list. Ask us to delete your messages at any time.

Children

Aqeem collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change ever involves collecting data, the app will ask you first.
